As declared earlier last month, Google is now working out an update for the Google Fit application that changes your Pixel into a heart and respiratory-rate measuring device. The organization recently declared a Pixel feature drop, adding several new features for its Google Fit application. These will first only be available for select Pixel smartphones.
Proceeding to the support for respiratory and heart rate monitoring, both of these features will run using just the cameras at the back and front of your smartphone. You do not require any other special hardware for this to work.
For heart rate monitoring, all you require to do is locate your finger on the back camera. You require to open the Google Fit application and touch the heart-rate card to start the method. First, you will have to enable some permissions, after which you can put your finger over the primary camera sensor at the back. The device will recognize your pulse and give you an evaluated result.
Then, the respiratory rate can track it by putting yourself in front of the selfie camera, keeping your face and body in the frame. To trace your breathing, the camera will then follow your chest moves.
Now, you can tell by the way it runs that this is not very stable, particularly when it comes to people with serious sicknesses. That is why Google guided out that these features are not meant for medical objectives.
These features will be operating out to Pixel smartphones via the Google Fit application later. Though, in the future, Google will work out the respiratory and heart rate measurement features for other Android devices in the market.
