The fourth quarter was chaos. After the Rams reclaimed a 19-16 lead, safety Talanoa Hufanga jumped a Matthew Stafford pass and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown, flipping the score to 23-19 Denver.
That interception was the 33rd pick-six of Stafford’s career — breaking Brett Favre’s NFL record of 32. Stafford refused to fold, answering with a 48-yard touchdown strike to Konata Mumpfield to retake the lead 26-23 with 3:38 left.
But Denver had the final say. Bo Nix dove into the end zone on a 1-yard keeper with 47 seconds remaining to make it 30-26. Stafford drove the Rams into Denver territory one last time, but Hufanga intercepted him again — this time in the end zone as time expired.

Mariota was calm and efficient: 19-of-31 for 183 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers. Terry McLaurin caught six passes for 77 yards and a score. The Commanders forced three turnovers and scored 21 points off them.
The game’s defining moment came with 3:57 left. Backup linebacker Kain Medrano picked off Sam Darnold and raced 50 yards for a touchdown to make it 33-24 (the extra point was missed after a celebration penalty). Darnold answered with a touchdown drive to cut it to 33-31, but Rachaad White’s 19-yard run on third down and a Mariota zone-read keeper sealed it.
Darnold, back from an early-season injury, threw for 379 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba posted 10 catches for 128 yards and two scores — but it wasn’t enough.
