John Easterling posted on her Facebook page tha tOlivia Newton-John died Monday at her southern California property.
Newton-John played Sandy Olson in the 1978 movie musical Grease. John Travolta previously played the character on Broadway.
"I wanted this girl bad," Travolta told Merv Griffin on TV in 1981. "The perfect Sandy, the ultimate Sandy, would be Olivia Newton-John."
It seemed like no one could refuse Grease. The soundtrack was very popular. The best-selling single of the year was a duet with John Travolta.
For "Let me Be There," she won her first Grammy award in 1973. The following year, she earned two Grammys for "I Honestly Love You."
Newton-John left the spotlight to raise her daughter and work for causes like breast cancer awareness and protecting the environment.
She treated it, she said, with alternative therapies, medical marijuana, humor and optimism
