Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 Out Today: “Mae Rides the Bus” Drops a Pregnancy Twist Ahead of the October 7 Finale

Ted Lasso Season 4 is down to its final two episodes, and the penultimate chapter just dropped. Episode 9, titled “Mae Rides the Bus,” premiered on Apple TV on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 — and it landed two of the season’s biggest emotional punches: Keeley Jones’s pregnancy and a devastating cliffhanger involving pub owner Mae Green.

Ted Lasso Season 4, which brought Jason Sudeikis back to the pitch on August 5 after a three-year break, has flipped the show’s premise: Ted is no longer coaching AFC Richmond’s men. He’s in charge of the Lady Greyhounds, the club’s second-division women’s side, in what producers call his biggest challenge yet. Ted Lasso Season 4’s 10-episode run wraps with the finale on October 7.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9: What Happened

Episode 9 sends a low-morale Richmond squad to Bristol for a must-win match that could secure promotion. Mae Green, the beloved Richmond pub owner played by Annette Badland, joins the team bus for the road trip and shares her old dream of playing football — a dream her generation never got to live.

Richmond wins, with Shannon scoring just before the final whistle. But the celebration collapses when Rebecca receives news of an “incident” involving Ms. Green. The show never shows what happened, and Rebecca and Ted’s conversation is left unheard — but Ted’s slumped reaction makes clear the news is grave. Fans will have to wait until the October 7 finale for answers.

The episode also confirmed the season’s other open thread: Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) is pregnant. The reveal leaves the Roy-and-Keeley question — and the question of parentage and timing — for the finale to untangle. Meanwhile, Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman) was exposed as the secret buyer snapping up Richmond shares, turning out to be the season’s true villain.

Why Ted Lasso Is Trending Today

Episode 9’s release-day buzz is amplified by scale: the show has been the No. 1 TV series worldwide on Apple TV, topping charts in 71 countries, according to FlixPatrol data reported this week. The season also closed with a tribute — “In memory of Anthony Head” — honoring the actor who played Rebecca’s ex-husband Rupert Mannion. Head died in June at 72.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Release Schedule, Cast and Where to Watch

New Ted Lasso Season 4 episodes stream exclusively on Apple TV (the service formerly branded Apple TV+), released globally every Wednesday — though US and Canadian viewers have typically been able to watch from 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday evenings. Episode 10, the finale, arrives October 7, 2026.

The returning cast includes Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins. Newcomers include Tanya Reynolds as assistant coach Alice Chilton, Abbie Hern as striker Gemma, Faye Marsay, Jude Mack and Tracey Ullman. Apple TV has not announced a fifth season — though given the show’s chart dominance, the finale-night conversation will be worth watching.

With only the October 7 finale remaining, Ted Lasso Season 4 is poised to resolve its biggest cliffhangers — Mae Green’s fate after the Bristol trip, the fallout from Keeley Jones’s pregnancy, and Zelda Southport’s secret bid for Richmond shares — as Ted’s journey with the Lady Greyhounds reaches its conclusion.

The Lady Greyhounds storyline represents a significant shift for Ted Lasso Season 4, placing Ted in charge of the club’s women’s side as he navigates new challenges both on and off the pitch. The season’s focus on the women’s team has resonated with audiences worldwide, contributing to the show’s continued dominance atop global streaming charts in 71 countries and building anticipation for the season finale.
